2010 WFB Campaign Kicks Off

Date May 3, 2010

Club WHFB WH 40K FoW Competition 30th May

Date April 9, 2010

Hello all.
Here are the rules for the Flames of War Competition

Outline

1500 points
From Festung Europa or Fortress Europe
No Armoured Companies (tank)

Scenarios

Breakthrough
Cauldron (No Defensive Battle special rule)(Defending forces lose all transport teams both armoured and un-armoured for the on table units)
Road Block

This gives us an all over scenario of;

A defensive line being punched through.
Then the unit that has broken through has to “Dig in” until reserves arrive. While the other side tries to eliminate them.
After this the defender has to prevent the reserve column getting through to the “Dug in” unit.

There will be a random allocation of attacker in the first scenario, unless Defensive special rule makes one side the attacker.

The winner of the first scenario will be the defender in the second.

The winner of the second scenario will be the defender in the third scenario.

Victory points as per rule book.

The player with the highest overall points wins at the end.

WAB 14,000 point game over easter 2010

Date April 3, 2010

All,
Today I hosted a few members from the Pigmar wargamers club (pigmar.co.uk) of Bath in a large (7000 pts per side) game of WAB – The game was Mauryan Indian vs Alexander Imperial.

My thanks to Adam for being a superb Mauryan General such that we were able to fight of the young Alexander, and to Greg and Peter for giving us such a fun, and hard fought for victory. A superb day of gaming :)

Now to the eye candy.

Battle of Prokhorovka (well part of it anyhow!)

Date February 12, 2010

Below are images from the glorious Russian victory at Prokhorovka. A game played using Flames of War rules, some 15,500 points of Soviets (mostly conscripts!) vs 10,100 points of Veteran germans. We managed to get 9 turns in playing from around 9.15am through to 4pm – with about a 40min stop for lunch – so a very decent number of turns and a clear victory for the Russians.

OK – we did’nt kill a single Tiger (and had very little that could kill one!) – and they only had 6 – but by turn 9 they did not have much left other than the tigers and all three objectives in their half were being contested…

Players:
Soviets: Andy, Steve, Peter
Germans: Phil, Paul, Vince

regards
Andy

Flames of War “Fall Gelb”

Date January 20, 2010

In April I intend to run a historical based scenario campaign.

FALL GELB

The  German Invasion of Low Land Europe.

I am after participants to be prepared to field “poorly powered, armoured and gunned” tanks and pit their brave foot sloggers in an all out war to defend/conquer France, Belgium and Holland.

I have a hardy band of men already risen to the call with troops and tanks in excess of the participants.

So if you are a member of the club and fancy joining us in a refight then let me know and I’ll get the ball rolling.

Cheers

Phil
